My god - awesome. 4 guys doing free, bad company, and zeppelin songs. no fear at all - jesus, they even did kashmir, with no keyboards!

Guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. And they all do it so very well! Difficult to separate any of the musicians out for speacial praise, but ok, the guitar player is special special. my god he even looks like page before the hair went snowy. is it just me, but does he talk like him as well??? he is covering so many parts, with les paul, and double neck, and floor rack full of pedals, you could get dizzy watching. actually i think he’s jimmy’s lost twin, separated at birth.

drums and bass very very solid - pre punk they would have been referred to by other musicians as ’tight’ - a ubiquitous term of muso approval in the early 70’s, now rather fallen in to disrepute. Anyway, they are tight, and funky, and play like they mean it.

Singer paul cox takes it all in his stride - a voice more naturally suited to paul rogers stuff, but plant doesn’t scare him at all. ’song remains the same’, ’since i’ve been loving you’ , ’whole lotta love’. the voice is powerful and totally convincing. he looks a bit like a builder, and if he told you you had a couple of grand of extras to pay for, you wouldn’t argue.

they play the free and bad co stuff in set one, then after the break its all zeppelin to the end - and high point of the evening - a high energy medley built around ’whole lotta love’. I knew they were playing the 6 bells that night, but wow, if you’d walked in of the street you would have been in for a proper shock! what the fuck are these guys doing playing in a pub to 50 people? dunno, but they sure looked like they were enjoying themselves. the audience did for sure.

i wanna join a rock band!

Having Alan Glen on my Blues Show last night was fantastic and I managed to play several tracks from ’The incredible Blues Puppies’ and ’The Barcodes’, both bands being with the great record label ’Note Music’ All I can say is keep it coming...
Best wishes,
