Hi you cute little Buzzard boys!I saw you perform at the ’Lion’,Basford(please see if you can get me a gig there).I was out on a date with my current ’beau’,Cliff(Richard)as he suggested I should come and witness a ’proper’ English band.Boy, am I glad I did!
Cliff did’nt want to talk to you guy’s as he was a bit upset that your friend,Mr.Vince Eager, had not asked him to play the tambourine on his new album.God,that would have really pushed the combined ages of the band up,would’nt it?
Anyway back to you guy,s!.Andy, when I next tour the UK,I will be needing a new axeman and M.D. and would be delighted if you would accept my offer,I really do appreciate your knowledge and advice.I listened to your suggestions about Xmas decorations outside my house, the lights in my bush look so cool, the guy’s can certainly see me coming now!
Now on to you Jimbo!I have a good position in mind for you (well, several actually!),Due to the current recession,I have been looking for a bass player who can also mix the sound and work the lights all at the same time.Impossible you might think, but not so!Pricey, you certainly fit the bill! I was truly amazed at your footwork on your lighting switches, even Cliff commented on the way you moved(watch him big boy!) Surely you must have had some sort of ballet training.
And now on to you Teefy boy,the engine of the band. When I was a very young girly,I used to so much enjoy your TV programme(the Muppet Show)Oh how it made me titter,to watch you,the animal behind the kit! Anyway Mr.White I’ve just bought a new holiday home on Malibu beach and would be honoured if you could build me a couple of sheds in my back garden.I will of course send you the bus fare as I believe it’s a fair distance from Bestwood village to LA.
Enough for now,I look forward yo seeing you guy’s soon(perhaps with that nice young Si Taylor(wow!)or as the ’Memphis Tones’ with that nice Mr Eager(Cliff speaks very highly of him!)
Bye for now my lovely boys!(I might not be with Cliff next time, as that man is to kinky even for me,you should see him in his floral thong,ha ha!) Lots of love,Lady Gaga(I sure am Gaga for guys!) see ya’ll soon XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX |

Hey Buzzards, enjoyed last week at Old Star in Uttoxeter. Hope you will come and play again pretty soon. Glad your mad drummer got his symbols sorted out. |

Did any of you guys play on demos of my songs around the mid seventies. Maybe Andy but I have forgotton names.
"Big Boogie Sam" was one of the songs with a great guitar ending.
I dug the recording out recently and now I have an arranger preparing it for a big band (without the lyric!)
Do get in touch if you are the guys I am thinking of. Definately Tristam Shandy.

To Andy and the band.
I enjoyed reading your blog Andy and all the memories for me that ensued. I first saw ABK at Jaycees on a Tuesdy night in the early 80’s and what a super band you were. As a young singer at the time I always thought, (and still do) what a superb frontman Boris was. You indulged my band at the time, (The Spores) to support you. Great memories for me and I have to say Andy that you are the perfect gentleman. I don’t think I’ve seen any other guitarist, in all the years I’ve been following Nottingham’s local music scene, than you.
I hope you’ll always endure. |
