Hi
I came to Dewsbury bus museum about 11 years ago to photograph WHL 970 for scratch built model making purposes, as being brought up near South Elmsall, I had vivid memories of riding on the Wulfrunia, it being commonly used on the old 183 route between Castleford and South Elmsall. What a great bus it was to a bus loving kid!I remember the boom of the the old Gardner engine at the drivers side and the floating feel of the air suspension (although this caused more than one accident I understand; one of our school buses flopped over and I gather they had to have the seats taken out at the front of the upper deck for safety reason!)
Shame it is reviled so much in the bus community press. Just too early for its time and the technology available in my view.
Needless to say the model still hasn’t been made(work!) but I fully intend to do it when I get into semi retirement next year.
I’m so glad to see WHL970 still at Dewsbury and I hope to be able to come along in the future and take a fresh look. Also when funds are available I would like to be able to contribute in a modest way to its restoration and upkeep, but thats for another time unfortunately with this recession.
In the meantime I am going to apply for membership to help the museum along in my own small way.
Keep up the good work!

Good site, looking forward to see the Wulfrunian back on the road, I remember the rock and roll feeling when on these type of buses - the good old days? Don’t know really. just wait another 20 years will we see a DAF Optare Spectra being preserved, if so buy any spare bits you need now whilst they are there!

| It is quite some time since my last visit to your bus museum and although your place is only small I think its great and never hesitate to tell friends all about you. Good Luck and see you soon again, I hope. Ken (ex-T.J.O.C.) |
