was given some fuchias in pots in April. they were brilliantly in flower and one continues to try. i have given them some seamungus this past week. how much should i prune them and when. they seem to like the cold weather up here in the Adelaide Hills (Nairne). should they be repotted sometime - they are currently in plastic hanging pots. when it is windy i take them down and place in a little huddle by my front door. please advise if able. Robyn

Hi there,

There should be ample reading material either in your own or in the public libraries. I suggest you look out for Leo Boullemier’s book on fuchsias which is what I consider to be the Bible for research and background material.

Hi there Florry and welcome to our site. If you contact me directly by using my email address I can arrange a reply to your enquiry from one of our experts.

A golden rule for growing fuchsias is providing exposure to the morning sun and in the afternoon, shade. Try siting your plants on the eastern (normally shady in the afternoon) side of the house and keep the potting mix moist but not WET.
Feed them well in the flowering season and prune the plants back in winter. please use the contact email address I have provided and I will put you in contact with an expert. Better still, use the membership form and join us.

I have just bought a house late last year and Iam starting to collect this beautiful flowers. I have very little knowledge of how to plant them but with very little informations from the internet. I think I m doing pretty good with my 1st 7 species I have so far.My back porch get the after 3pm sun which I think is abit too harsh on them (I think) Now as I live in NSW close to Canberra I would love some hints tips from you growers out there. As to basically HOW to look/care after/for them.
Do I need a green house for them or do I get to put them out on my front porch which recieves the morning & mid morning sunlight.
Please I need some help..
Thanks for your time..
Me..
