Still pulling them old boots on every Saturday, at 58, though Whinge, you put yours in the cupboard at 28, although i do bow to your condiderable capacity when it comes to partying, and i am sure that you would make a far better contribution to the Players Association than i would,if you were still in the UK, but by definition you would have to be playing !!!!!!!

some very good points made there chris , , it whould be bennificial for the club to have nights in the club rather than leaving to go up town . the commitee are doing there best , geoff & fred are cooking the dinners , away teams are starting to come back to the club ,the players are trying to make a fist of it , it will get better as long as nobody else jumps ship to enfield . the players who are loyal to the OAS will keep going & play for the scarlet & emerald . but u are right the heart of the club is the clubhouse , players need to bring there birds up there on saturday night & get the club back to the good old days .

I thought long and hard before making this post but feel compelled to comment on the last post and the way things are generally going at the club.
Anybody who knows me will also know how highly I value the OAs
and everybody involved, although I’m sure comments will cause upset in certain quarters, we need to get things sorted.
Im sure some of you will disagree strongly and other agree with some points. The fact is we are not in good shape at present generally and I dont mean because we have had a run of bad results. Our financial sitaution is very precarious and we seem to be doing very little as a club, to get this sorted.
We have three events in four months of which has already been cancelled. In addition we have two Players Association piss ups which may meet in our club, but will inevitably move on to generate cash for bars other than our own.We have to "wake up and smell the coffee" as I am convinced that if we dont get our priorities right soon, then we will go the way of many other clubs, which would be a tragedy for us all including me.
The club is not being used to it’s full potential on a Saturday night, this seems to be an ongoing situation for whatever reason, yet there seems to be little urgency in
arranging lettings and generating income.I believe we have lost our way and dont seem to be able to priorise what’s important and whats not.Nobody is suggesting that the commitee dont work hard, but we’ve all got to pull together and I include myself in this (despite living 130 miles away)
and make this work. If our priority is organising Players Association piss ups when we have no depth of squad, are struggling now to field a first team and posibly as I understand if things get any worse,we may have to disband the 2s if the situation continues, then we might as well shut up shop now.
We aslo seem to have lulled ourselves into a false sense of security that new players will just turn up.
We have to attract them. Where I live in New Milton they have a recruitment poster in ever fish and chip shop, kebab shop, gym and any other shops that will allow them. They actively canvas colleges and universities, sadly we dont seem to have the same sense of urgency. My own view is that we need an extraordinary general meeting where everybody can put forward suggestions and we all find a way forward. This is everbodies club and I’ve got to be honest and say that from my point of view it was a lot more fun when we were in Herts?Middx 4 and we all mucked in, the Rugby came first and we certainly had a better social side.
I’m not angry at all that isnt constructive, but I am incredibly sad, with the way thigs are at present.
Perhaps Im a voice in ther wilderness and everbody else is happy?
We cant even be bothered to get acouple of dozen rolls made up on match day to generate a few quid.
This isnt a personal criticism of anybody, but if like me you want the club to survive we all need a clear way forward which will enable us to concentrate on Rugby and a long term future. You will note that I have put my personal email address so anybody who wishes can send hate mail although constructive comment would be more helpful!
Good luck to our boys on Saturday.
Before anybody pipes up and says the players are entitled to a piss up whenever they want, I agree, but if we carry on like this, the opportunity to have a piss up in our own clubhouse wont exist.
Clearly its best, if you put any ideas to your committee but I would be interested in you views.
