Excellent site
I used the Tekaloid as recommended - a very forgiving paint. I didn’t have the skill to brush paint my landy so I used a roller - The finish was superb.
I have a WT Sanker to paint next so I’m going to practice with the brush |

A very helpful, interesting and informative site, with a wonderful wealth of experience too. My Series 2 Landy has just come out of a barn and is on its way to renovation; the bodywork looked rough but will benefit from all I have learnt here.
Thankyou! |

I am so pleased to have found your site. My father was a very skilled coach painter, and I picked up some of his skills which I last used in around 1985 to paint the cab of a truck. Anyway, I have just bought an ’89 Landrover which is going to be undergoing some remedial treatments including a new paintjob, which is how I found your site - searching for Landrover paint codes.
Well, I got more than I bargained for - a complete refresher course!
This site is a first class resource, I, and I am sure many others, really appreciate what you have done here.
Thanks. |

Hello Stephen,
Congratulations on your website. I began my working life in 1977 in the Technical Services Department of Thornley & Knight, Bordesley Green, Birmingham. TK were the manufacturers of Tekaloid et al. I left the company in August 1979 to join the Fire Service. This was not long after ’Croda Paints’ took over the business. I am currently researching the history of TK for a website of my own and which will chart the rise of TK in the 1700’s untill the business was sold to Croda in 1978. I still have a number of items associated with TK including some original paint tins and colour swatches.
Kind regards
Gary
Please get in touch, I have some information on TK |
