Cpl. Mathis,
The honor was entirely mine, comrade. It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to command a unit which takes drill and protocol so seriously. You have a very able and competent commander in Captain Dennis Short and his hard work and dedication has clearly passed on to the fine soldiers of the 3rd Florida.

With utmost respect, I am
your obedient servant,
Captain Kearney

Captain Kearney and the Gentelmen of the 2nd,

Thank you for the opertunity serve under your command at Resaca. It was both a pleasure and an honor to fight side by side with the men of your company. I believe the combined 2nd and 3rd Florida (i.e. "The Florida Battalion") made a gallent stand in the hills of North Georgia. I don’t think I will ever get red clay mud completely off my boots, but every time I have to look at them it will be with fond memories of a weekend spent in comradeship.

Cpl. J Mathis
3rd Florida, Company A

Sir, I live in Deland and would like to know the nearest unit I might participate with. I have been told I look like a "Civil War Re-enactment actor" (I’m not sure what that means) and I do have a vast interest, although limited knowledge, of the particulars involving accurate re-enactment. I would appreciate any info given.

John,
I’m 1st Sgt. for the unit. Get in touch with the Captain as he as requested and he can get you routed to myself and the other NCOs on information to help you figure out how you can best go about checking out the hobby.

Hello, I just came back from the Brooksville Raid. I spoke to one of your members and he gave me your web site address.
Looks like a lot of fun. What’s it take to get started in CW reenacting? I’ve seen a lot of venders at the event, but don’t know what I’m looking at.
Thanks for any input.

Regards, John

I am an elementary school teacher and I would like to bring my class to your reenactment event at Renningers Market at Mt. Dora. However, I am confused about the dates listed on your website. The site says the school day will be held on Friday, Feb 1. In the year 2009, February 1st is on a Sunday. Please advise. Thank you.
