Melody,
Congratulations on discovering a new hobby, so much so that your son is becoming a drummer boy. If there is anything I can do to help you become involved, please contact me at . Stop by our camp and say hi at your next opportunity.

My husband, two sons and I attended the Battle at Townsend’s Plantation this past Saturday, January 30th and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We had not previously been to a re-enactment. Both my two sons really enjoyed the battle re-enactment and such that my youngest wants to participate and become a drummer boy in a re-enactment! Thanks for all you do!

Thank you, Charles.
It is good to know our hard work is appreciated. Should you find yourself in our neck of the woods during a re-enactment (see our Battle Schedule), join us. We’ve got some loaner gear and we’ll turn you into a real living historian.

Your website is great. Love the library, especially "Rearguard of the Confederacy". As a Florida native and Civil War buff I have always been dissapointed by the lack of information on the Florida regiments that fought for the CSA’s principal armies and of Civil War history in Florida. But with sites like yours on the web and literature that has been coming out in past few years, happily I can say that finally this deficiency is being corrected. Keep up the good work, if I still lived back home (Cocoa, FL) I would try and join up.

I want all to know that the 2nd Florida Volunteers is one of the most dedicated reenacting units in the hobby. Everyone has a zeal for the CSA and seems to really have a great time together. I will forever cherish my time spent with the regiment and I miss you brothers very much. God bless you all!!!

Sgt French;
The drums that you here comes from my beloved 97th Pa Volunteers as we march to liberation. Nothing will stop us from preserving the Union. I suggest you all lay down your arms, take the oath of allegiance, and return back to your farms while you can. Otherwise, I shall take no pity on you if I capture you on the field of battle. May God save the Union!!! |

Yes, big brother all is well for the moment here in the deep South. Still, the beating of the drums tells us that the rattle of muskets can’t be too far behind. Stay well.
