15th Annual RGI River Run, benefiting Kicks For Kids, to “Kick-off” area’s summer running season; Sat., May 28!
CINCINNATI, Ohio – Kicks For Kids (KFK) is excited to announce that the 15th Annual RGI River Run will once again launch the Tri-state’s summer running season! Taking place at 9;15 AM on the Saturday (5/28/11) of Memorial Day weekend, the proceeds of the RGI River Run will support KFK’s efforts to “level the playing field” for local children who are challenged physically, mentally or by the environment in which they live. A portion of the funds raised will also assist three of KFK’s long-standing partners; the Aaron W. Perlman Center and Division of Child Life (both located at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital) and Covington Partners in Prevention.
Last year was the fifth consecutive record year for the event, as the number of runners/walkers jumped in 2010 to almost 1,400 and the net proceeds rose to just over $50,000 for the first time. The total net proceeds raised will surpass $500,000 in 2011!
Race-Day registration and all of the post-race events will occur at the Purple People Bridge (near Newport On The Levee). Doghouse will perform live, Panera Bread will serve bagels, and participants will have the chance to win one of many quality door prizes! In addition, First Watch will be cooking pancakes for all participants and Starbucks will serve coffee. Each entrant will also receive a “goodie bag”, which will include product samples, free food certificates and a ticket good for free food and drink at the post-event party at Arnie’s on the Levee!
The races will start as follows; Special K - 9;15 AM; 5K Run/Walk - 9;30 AM; Children’s Fun Run - 10;30 AM. Participation in the RGI River Run can occur through either raising money via the Pledge Program or by paying an entry fee. Prizes associated with the Pledge Program include performance t-shirts, embroidered beach towels, a quality soft-sided Party Cooler, Bengals tickets for the 2011 regular season, Reds tickets for Opening Day 2012, and a 40” Philips HDTV! Awards for the top runners include Garmin GPS watches from Best Buy, Outback Steakhouse gift cards, and football tumbler glasses adorned with the RGI River Run logo.
Pre-registration mailed in entries must be postmarked by Monday, May 23, 2011. Entry fees are as follows; $15 for adults; $10 for children 7-17; Free for children 6 and under. T-shirts (performance for adults) are an additional $12, while cotton t-shirts for children are $10. Special K participants are no charge and receive a free cotton t-shirt. Race day registration begins at 8;00 AM at the Purple People Bridge in Newport -- prices are slightly higher.
