Hi
Just found your site and already picked up some information in the newspaper notices. Thanks.
Looking for information on Thomas Dunwoody, my wife’s great-grandfather, who died 17 December 1876, we understand of typhoid. He was a grocer in Beersbridge Road. His daughter, my wife’s grandmother, was born a few months after his death.

ED: Sent email

Hi,
This is a great site did some exploring and found some info but I was wondering if you could HELP me? I am looking for info on my Great grandfather HUGH WOODSIDE b10 July 1868 married Jane Davison 19 Jan 1895 all i can find on him is his birth & marriage his wife died when my grandfather (John Davison Woodside) was either 8 or 18 months old (he was born 31 July 1901).
I know Hugh died 4 Feb abt 1945....My mum told me that she used to visit him and he lived in Swift Street with his sister Eliza/Liza and his daughter Agnes (I cannot even find him in the 1911 census) mum also said that she was about 12 when he died, she was born in 1933 so hence the 1945 year of death for Hugh.
I would greatly appreciate any info you could maybe find for me thank-you

ED: Sent you an email

Just found your site very good/interesting, trying to trace family Fallon’s from Lurgan, G grandfather Joseph DoB 1845? G grandmother Jane Mary, my grandmother, their daughter Elizabeth Mary DoB 1869, married David Lyttle of Banbridge 1888.

I just realized you are the Eddie who answered my query to Belfast City List. What a great site you have! I check it regularly.

I’m looking for an article about a nancestor, John HENRY, who co-owned Henry & Haig co (1877-1889)on Bedford St in Belfast. He died 9 July 1889. His first wife (unknown) died leaving him with 3 young children. Less than a year later (I’m told) he married a 16 yr old named Rose COSTELLO, in 1875 and had 5 more children.

I’d greatly appreciate any newspaper clippings or obits you could find about John HENRY and family. I’ve never been able to find anything about his parents, siblings, or first wife.

Congratulations again on your website!

Eddie,
I’m joining the queue to congratulate you on your site. I found my grandfather on the Roll of Honour of Castlereagh Presbyterian church. He was listed as "P.O. James McQuoid". Until two weeks ago I had always thought he had served in the army in WW1.
Your record opened up a The whole new trail. He was one of a group of Ulstermen who volunteered in 1915 for the Royal Navy Air Service Armoured Car Division The went to Russia to fight for the Russians. They left in 1918 after the Revolution, just ahead of a warrent for their arrest signed by Trotsky. I found the story through a link from the Radio Ulster "Your place and mine " website-topics- Czar’s Irish Army". There was my grandfather listed among the Ulster group.
James was sent home sick and died in 1920.

Many thanks for all the work you’ve done.
Jim

ED: I read some of the story Jim and it makes an interesting tale. I’ve found a few remarkable stories on that site. It is always a pleasure to hear that the information I have transcribed has been of some use and makes the effort worthwhile :)

An absolutely brilliant site you’ve produced! I can see from your indexes that you have two of my husband’s ancestors’ obituaries, but I get a 404 when I try the links. They are;
freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~econnolly/extracts1700/dchr1770_93.html
and
freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~econnolly/extracts1700/fdj1725_98.html

I’d be incredibly grateful if you could let me know if these are still accessible on-line.

Thanks in advance
Holly

Hi Ed,
I’m looking for a copy of an obituary which appeared in The Belfast Telegraph Dec 17th 1934. You don’t happen to have that available do you? It’s Robert Hewitt.
If not do you know how to get it?
Thanks in advance,
Mandy
PS Great site!

ED: Will contact you by email

ED: Thanks for the heads up. The file is there but there was an error with the link when I generated the index. Will fix this when I next update the index.
