A great site and with much interesting historical information. Does any ex-member know the details of how Sgt R A McVeigh and P/O V J Pattison of 254 Sqn went missing, presumed KIA, on 6th July 1940 ? Both are on the Runneymede Memorial and I presume they were in the same crew. Sgt McVeigh is a relative. Many thanks, Tony

I came across the site after finding a letter addressed to my grandfather - John "Jack" Preedy of A flight. Have many photos of him with colleagues. I believe he was groundcrew. Very interesting to see the history

Great site. Wondered if anybody remembers my Dad LAC Arthur Cassidy (from Nottingham,) who was stationed at North Coates with 254sqdn.He remembers W.Commander David Cartridge and among other things he remembers the time he accidently pulled the tail off a Beaufighter when towing it with a tractor.Inquiry found a towing pin to be faulty.Dad was exonerated.

Dear Sir,
My father Leslie Edmund Larkin served in 254 squadron in 40-41 flying blenhiems. I noted recently that he did a search for P/O parry in his log book which is with my Sister.
I saw in your web page that PO parry was missing .
Also ho did a search for a chap named Mclelend ( not sure if I spelt it correctly )

I f any of you memebers have a picture of dad I would be very gratful as he did not leave any.
He was an ex halton boy and served in Egypt in around 1936 .
he went on to fly Catalinas but was invalided out - long story !

best regards and thanks for the page it gives me a a bit more to know about my fathre klife, one thing he made a foreced landing in Islay after taking off from NI landing on one engine and overturning all ok but left dad not quite the same ofetwards - he thought he was going to be burned to death mind you his log book shows he flew another aircraft back to base the following day - they were all quite wonderful people .

again kind regards

Graham anf Jean Larkin

Good morning all. What a fantastic find on the web, my father, flt lt AGB Bennett was navigator/obs in a Torbeau based at East Fortune in 254 squadron in 43/44 I think, and his pilot was P/O Dave Pengelly, who was a canadian.
Keep up the goodwork!!
