Hi Ronnie...I just found your website and latest update...Wonderful things you are doing!...I just had a comment on the watercolor I did of you that I posted on flickr(from the Figure Drawing Factory)...and it got me to wondering what you were up to ...So I did a search ...I really enjoyed our times at the FDF and was sorry to see the dwindling interest.

Take care and Best Wishes ...Philip

Hello Dave! What a nice surprise to hear from you! I’m sorry I have not replied to you sooner; my computer has been down over the Christmas period. It’s been struggling for a while now. With my brother’s help I’ve had to save all my documents onto an external hard drive and completely reformat both the interior drives and reinstall windows! I’ve just about got everything back to normal now with all my documents and software.
I DO remember you, well! I can even see you in my mind’s eye! I probably wouldn’t be able to recognize you now after all these years though. (lol)
I do still have my original model of Speke hall here, but it got so badly damaged when I lent it to our local parish junior school; they had it for about a year. I’ve just recently had a renewed interest in a complete rebuild, with a firm base that wouldn’t warp. The base on the old model warped badly and the whole structure broke apart.
Hey, there’s a lot to reply to from your message, too long to answer here.
Could you please send me an email; we could then correspond privately. My address is;

Hope you had a nice Christmas. Please give my regards to your family. Hope that the New Year treats you all kindly.
Regards,
Ronnie

Hi Ronnie,
I dont expect for a second you ’d remember me I was one of the hundreds of pupils you must have taught over the years at Campion between 1972 and 78.Whatever happened to your original Speke Hall model? I remember you were still working on it when I left in 78, sections of it were complete and it was looking fantastic. I remember having an art room pass and playing chess whilst listening to your collection of cassettes which you used to jazz up with flourescent labels and the index books you had for those tapes that you illustrated and binded yourself. I remember you discovering acrylics and being impressed with the versitility they offered and experimenting with discordant colours. Every now and then you’d bring in parts of your model railway for us to draw and paint. I wouldnt have said it then of course but you were an inspiration and your talent and enthusiasm shone threw. I became a graphic designer specialising in illustration, mainly wildlife books and Im sure I remember that pen drawing you have on your site ’Quaker cottages’ you told me that you finished the drawing off at home later from memory, that would have been about 1977! I did alot of pen illustration myself thats how I remember it.Ive since had a change of career and work for the CRB. Anyway Ronnie I found your site really interesing and you are just as enthusiastic and talented as ever it sounds a bit corny to say that everybody remembers a good teacher but thats what you were and Im certain still are. Take care of yourself and have a fantastic Christmas.
Best Wishes
Dave (Burrows)

Hello Neil. Sorry to take so long to reply to you. Not had the computer on for many days. Just getting over a bad few days with the tummy bug (Noro-virus!). It was awful.

To answer your question; The "Pemberton" is NOT one of my drawings! So, the drawing you have there could not have my signature on it. The only ones that I have done with names like that are "Hinderton", "Thurstaston" and "Claughton".

Hi Roy!
Thank you for your comments. Not sure about the ’great artist’ bit. lol.
As to ’bad design sense’, I KNOW it’s not very imaginative as web design goes, but it IS at least practical. A lot of people have told me it’s a lot easier to navigate round my site than many! It’s practical! Ok, it would be a lot of fun, AND probably beneficial, I’m sure, for me to learn of present day techniques in imaginative web design, and I would love to gen up on that, IF it would aid me more easily to construct my drawing and painting tutorials. I use a program called Arachnophilia, using HTML. I’m 72 ya know! Bit slow in grasping things these days! lol. Learning more inventive and exciting ways of presenting my work and tutorials, I suppose, would make my site more attractive to viewers, I’m sure. It’s just a question of finding the time right now to devote to it. I DO appreciate your constructive comments, and I thank you.

Ron.

Just was browsing through your site and I gotta say, great stuff...i kept saying to myself, how can such a great artist, have such a bad design sense in regards to the web site..

Then I read that your are new to the computer ;)... so I forgive you there ha ha ;)...I’m a seasoned web designer so I have no patience for badly designed web sites. ... anyway .. great landscapes...i’m really inspired...

Hello everybody! It’s been some time since I visited my own site here! I get so involved with so many other things these days. I know I really should be adding more stuff to the tutorial studios. I shall try to remedy this in the near future. With not having visited my site for a while I have not realized so many people had signed my guest book! Thank you so much for all your kind words. ;-d
