Thank you everyone for signing our guestbook!! It is encouraging to know the park is enjoyed throughout the year.
If anyone is interested in looking at more pictures from the park’s heyday we encourage you to come to visit the Vistors center at the WWRR train station. Better yet we are always looking for new members to help preserve the history of the park! Details on the website! Thank you! |

My husband, Daughter, and I just recently discovered the history of this park through the W&WRR Ghost Tour Train. I loved hearing the stories of the people who lived here and the history of the park. Our family loves history and I think it is wonderful the work you are doing. I can’t wait to explore and share this park during the day with my two sons also. Keep up the great work.

I love this park. It’s a favorite place to walk with my dog and enjoy the solitude and beauty this park offers. I am so grateful to the Friends for taking the time to reveal the history surrounding this gem so that we all can enjoy it. I wish there were more pictures of the park in its glory.

I was born in Ohio but have lived here in N.C.C. area 60+ years and never knew the park had been there. Then I started research into my ancestors @Ancestory.com and found that my relatives in the late 1600’s owned that land encompassing Brandywine Springs Manor...what a wonderfully small world indeed. Now I can accomplish 2 things, visiting a community’s piece of history and walking on my own personal piece of history.

My son,Dakota,4yrs old & I just discovered this park in the last week, he loved it, we spent 4 hours on the trails, he wanted me to read all the postings.I took over 80 pictures! He kept saying, "it’s magical here mom", and you can feel the positive energy i think. He doesn’t know anything about things like that, but he sensed it and called it "magical".We aren’t from here & a little homesick at times, so this park really made us feel more at home in Delware! Thank you so much for preserving a part a wonderful history!

I’ve lived in Delaware for twenty years and heard stories of an old Amusement Park, but never knew where it was located. Recently a friend of my son told him where the Amusement Park was, and I went exploring to see any remains. I walked through the trails and read all the posts showing where different parts of the park stood. The Amusement Park must have been such a wonderful experience for everyone that visited, and I love the fact the The Friends of Brandywine want to preserve what still remains for generations to come.

I have lived next to the park my whole life and played there often. I didn’t learn that Brandywine Springs used to be an amusment park until saw a Friends of Brandywine Springs booth at the Ice Cream Festival one year. Though I enjoy the park as it is today, I wish I could have experienced it in all its glory.

I have many fond memories of Brandywine Springs Park. I remember when me and my best friend Sharon Brown would hike through the woods together many an afternoon after school. We had heard stories (both grew up in the Cedars Sharon right in front of the rr tracks) from locals how the park was an amusement park back in the day. It was hard to fathom that then but I am eternally grateful to the FOBS for bringing light to all of it. I have a copy of Mark Lawlor’s wonderful book Echoes of the Past and heard it is currently out of print. I think he needs to get more copies on the shelf so that people can enjoy it as much as me and my family have. A special hello to Ann Hedrick! My mother Helen always spoke so highly of you! God Bless you all for a wonderful job!
