Your tax records show many Samuel Reeds, and thank you for posting those records.
I have no idea where my ggggrandfather was from 1761 to 1799---Samuel(Saml)Reed 1761-1846 - married to Jane, lived in Delaware around 1799 & 1800, then in Scott Co, Kentucky 1804 to 1846. One son said(on the census) that he was born in England, and Jane, his wife, was born in Virginia---maybe he was in Virginia before 1799. They had seven children born in Scott Co KY. Their son (Samuel, my gggrandfather) and a daughter migrated to California before 1860, another son and daughter moved to DeKalb, Missouri--the other five children stayed in TurkeyFoot/Sadieville, KY. Scott County had fires that destroyed records, so no help there---hope one of your researchers may see this and have a connection.

Thanks for the extra effort you put into this study.
I know my ancestor Michael Reed was born in Virginia from the census disclosure. I think that he may have been the son of Samuel of Botetourt County. A Michael is in Samuel’s will. I have not been able to find confirmation of that relationship. Michael moved to Green County Kentucky in about 1796. He died their in 1813.
Your posting says a lot of time in retracing the past.

Great work - Great info.
My line runs (state of birth); Cornelius (Not sure) - Jonathan (VA) - Benjamin (VA)- David (IN) - Franklin (IN) - John (IN) - Elbert (IL) - Me (IL). I don’t know Cornelius’ father’s name or state (or country) of birth. Could it be Andrew? |

This site is great. My Samuel Read came from Botetourt Co VA to Kentucky about 1806. I’m still trying to backtrack him in Virginia.
Thanks for your hard work. |
