| I discovered this website by Googling the name Raymond Agoult. I am an avid LP record collector and I have two LPs, ’Overtures in Spades’and ’Clair de Lune’, that are conducted by Mr. Agoult and wondered who he was.I think this is a wonderful website because it helps to encapsulate some of the best of British broadcasting, but it makes me sad too. I came to live in the UK in 1983 and missed the MWYW programmes, but my wife and I loved John Dunn and Friday Night is Music Night. The contrast between what the BBC used to stand for(raising standards instead of reaching for the lowest common denominator)and what it is now...well, it’s all very sad. Thank you very much. |

Very interesting page but I was disappointed not to see a mention of my late uncle David Java who had his own radio show on the BBC in the 40’s.

Hello, Thanks for uploading the videos to Youtube. I have shared one on the Town Band’s Facebook Group page suggesting that they get themselves to Youtube to take a look.

| hi Brian , a few years ago I emailed you, and told you I was Harold Collins grand daughter, well I have since found out he died in Spain in 1968, age 66. He was the son of a Russian Jewish immigrant, and had changed his name, I guess to fit in with the English way of life. Thats why his birth and death are so hard to find, he under a different name. I have managed to find all his family, it has taken years, hope u find the info interesting. Fan |

Being from the USA, us Americans were rarely introduced to the brilliance of the UK "Masters of Melody", except on the rare occasion our Public Broadcasting (PBS) would feature British music shows and musicians (ex. "The Jazz Series"). Some of the arrangements are quite amazing - even the old-school ’light orchestras’ (which make me think of what a dance orchestra might have sounded like on a transatlantic voyage in the 1950s!) - but more exciting is being introduced to amazing jazz talents I’ve never encountered before, like Jack Emblow.... Great stuff - and thanks for sharing these incredible archive recordings of a time capsule treasure trove of fascinating music. |

| Glad you like it, Joe. There are plenty more recordings to go on this site - keep watching! You might also like my companion YouTube site www.youtube.com/user/MastersofMelody1 which has my videos of bandstand performances! |

Just found your site - FASCINATING.
Why, oh why, can’t we have this sort of broadcast today. Solid musicians, beautiful programmes of music and a nice variety of orchestras etc to listen to and NO rap, hip hop or other so-called music to have to suffer.
More please
