| You have given me a lot of information. I teach Georgia History at Wrens Middle School and was looking for local resources to bring GA History to life. Thank you and I will be visiting the website again and hopefully get to meet you one day. |

I think it is wonderful that so many in genealogy are out there and willing to share their research. You make it much easier for all of us. Thank you.
P.S. My wife is a Girtman from Georgia and I hope to publish her family history soon. |

| Thanks for compiling such a fabulous history. My ancestor is Revolutionary War hero George Lawson Stapleton who is buried in the Stapleton Family Cemetery on a hillcrest near the town of Stapleton. He married Margaret Downer at war’s end when he met her at St. Augustine. They returned to Jefferson County upon receiving a 1000 acre land grant from President Washington. They had 11 children (10 boys and 1 girl) according to family history. The town was named after his grandson Col. James Stapleton who fought in the Civil War and later became a minister. |

Thank you for taking the time to post this county information!
I am interested in the Irish imigrant, Luke McGlohon who was a resident of Jefferson County, GA. I have located an application for guardian appointment in 1845 by Robert A. L. Atkinson for Mary and Tandy McGlohon, orphans of Luke McGlohon late of Jefferson County, deceased. I am descended from Tandy McGlohon’s line.
Any assistance in locating a birth or death record for Luke, name of wife(?)or any other record of residence for him in Jefferson County is greatly appreciated!
Names associated with this family in Georgia; Key, Strong, deGraffenreid, and Bailey.
Thank you!
Angela Park

Lydia, I am a granddaughter of Barney Jefferson Byrd. He died when I was four years old. I know very little about his side of the family.
