I use this space regulary to run and play tennis and "keep Fit" something the "goverment" pretends to encourage us to do, so why are they allowing local authorities to even think about taking away our spaces in which to achieve fitness. Yes!!! I can see their predictable arguement that goals will allow people to keep fit too, but not everyone is interested in football so that is not a "democratic" arguement. Also i beleive if we live in a democracy then this area is Public and therefore we should not even be a debate about its future. A sensible comparison would be if we (the People) decided to sell the Civic Centre for re-development, because that is a Public Area as is morden park, and then the coucillors would have no area in which to Operate and this debate would not even exist!!

This council will do anything for money, this is a totally
inappropriate idea the area is residential the park provides much needed greenery and recreation we do not need this kind
of development it must be stopped.

Please save Morden Park.
I could cry just of the idea the park could disappear.
I used to work at the local reuse and recycling and household waste centre near by in lower Morden and Morden Park is the only green space around there not only for thousand of households but also people who work around there.
We need the grass, we need the trees, we need the oxygen, dont take it away from us!
The campaign is strong www.mordenpark.org.uk/
Save Morden Park!! Save Morden Park!! Save Morden Park!! Save Morden Park!! Save Morden Park!! Save Morden Park!! Save Morden Park!! Save Morden Park!!
Thanks for your time,
Regards,
Stephanie

I have just moved into the area and finding the park was amazing. Nowhere else in London is there such a vast open space. It is a rare gem and the psychological benefits the open spaces of the park offer surely outweigh the benefits a goals development would. The ecological arguments are too obvious to go into.
It is great to see such a strong opposition to the development, I hope our voices will be heard.

The Goals development at Raynes Park looks like a supermarket car park ! It is totally inappropriate for this peaceful green space near the heart of Morden. Why is there any need for another expensive floodlit football centre when there is one a mile away ?
Merton Council seems to be determined purely to generate as much cash as possible from the park, ignoring the concrens of residents.

There are more than enough football pitches in the area already. If the council are really interested in providing sports facilities then they should restore the dilapidated tennis courts at the Hillcross entrance to the park.

Enquiry; Whats the latest on the planning application?
There does not seem to be any up-dates on the web site?
Have the objectors any alternatives plans for the use of this valuable recreation park that at present is an eye sore and badly needs attention

This was a nice safe residential area parking is now a huge issue as the mosque does encroach on the local residents and so will the football company. The noise will be continous until way past 11 which will disturb and irritate local residents . Theres a common, a park and most people have gardens go kick balls at home and we dont need morden park being converted for the profits of merton council.

Replying to Steve below..

I didn’t know about the proposal you mention. I’ve had a look at the Fields In Trust website and it looks like this is exactly what the park needs.

The field does need investment; I don’t think anyone would argue that. The tennis courts and cricket nets are on their last legs.
If the Fields In Trust people can help protect it against development, stop it from being sold off and also improve the facilities it looks perfect.

I’ve got nothing to do with this website so it’s just my opinion but it gets the thumbs up from me.

I understand AFC Wimbledon (a local semi-professional football club) submitted joint proposals with ’Fields in Trust’ Website here; www.fieldsintrust.org/ to Merton Council to acquire the land. I think they wanted to build facilities for football training but also to safeguard the future of the park as a community area. To gage opinion here would that be a more popular idea than GOALS?
