"This is a wonderful park that should be used by everyone. I would like to see play areas here for the children."

9. Chris Wotton - 2008-10-10 20:26:46
"Quite how a council seeking to promote green open spaces can favour such a planning application is beyond me!"

8. Jane Wotton - 2008-10-10 20:26:26
"My whole family enjoy the fields on a regular basis. We often wander out from our home on Hillcross Ave to come blackberrying or to collect conkers and cones. If this development goes ahead the whole community will suffer a great loss and the peacefulness we now enjoy will be gone."

7. Lily Wotton Collett, (aged 9) - 2008-10-10 20:26:01
" My brother and I like to come over the park with our Mum. We pick blackberries to make jam and smoothies. I would not like the field to go because the wildlife will have nowhere to live."

Dan Lodge, Wimbledon Prospective Parliamentary Candidate (Labour) said, ’We have all had a fantastic afternoon playing football and cricket at Morden Park, the council must protect this resource for the local community.’

" Today has been a wonderful demonstration of the whole community coming together. The council must understand that this park belongs to all the community and stands for much more than commercial opportunism. It is a community resource and it looks like the community will have to fight to keep it"

I walk my dogs in Morden Park twice a day, every day of the year. At all times of the year there is beauty and peace in this lovely green space. It would be such a shame to spoil it with a big commercial development. I am not against the playing fields being used - but let it be used by and for local people and groups - for the love of it not just for financial gain.

Hello. I was a bit confused about your statement on the "Our Cause" page that you had to be over 15 to play at Goals. My two sons, who are both well under that age, have several times attended (and dare I say it, enjoyed) parties with their school friends at the A3 Goals you mention. I’m not saying I’m in favour of the Goals proposal for Morden Park but it is important to get the details right.
Actually I was appalled that the council leader David Williams just told the protestors to "Get over it". That is so incredibly rude and not worthy of an elected public servant. It’s also ironic that he argues that the park belongs to the whole community at the same time as handing it over to a commercial enterprise meaning only those who can afford to pay can benefit from that part of the park.
Best wishes with your endeavours,

Ashley Emery
