Hi,
My father, Marvin Jensen, served with the C Btry 602 FA Bn Ft. Sill, Ok. Does anyone have any information on the time these guys were separated from their units by the enemy? It was for about 2 weeks. My father killed a pig for the troops to eat and was busted down from a Sergeant to a Corporal because of it. I’m looking for any information on my fathers’ service. He received the Korean Service Medal 5 Battle Stars, the ROK Presidential Unit Citation, Army Occupation Medal(Japan)and the Purple Heart. The army says they have no records he was overseas and no records of his being wounded. However his DD214 States Shrapnel Wounds 24 Jul 50 Near Taegu Korea. I also thought the only way to get a Purple Heart was from being wounded in active battle? Thanks for any information and if anyone remembers my dad it would be thrilling to talk to you. Thanks and God Bless you all.

| My father, Frank P. Flamig, was a corporal and a scout in the 602nd Field Artillery, Battery "B" (Pack). I am researching more about his citation for the Bronze Medal in Menton, France, on September 29, 1944. The following men also received Bronze Stars; Robert C. Dickinson, Sergio L. Giorza, Howard Heaton, Garmond F. Lindquist, Archa F. Mimms, Clifford M. Schweigert, Kenneth C. Shupe, Frederick W. Smith, Jr., and Arthur J. Wallace Jr. I have his Bronze Star, an article from an army newspaper with more details, and copies of the original, Restricted papers describing this event. I would love to share them if you are interested. Sincerely, Penny A. Madden |

| My husband, Lloyd D Davis was in the mule pack outfit from Camp Carson during the time of the Korean conflict. He never went to Korea but was later stationed in France. Robert Taylor gave service dates Sep 54 - May 56 which would be same time. Any one remember Lloyd? |

I was stationed at Camp Carson in 1943 and was intrigued by the Mule Pack outfits there; the sometimes comical performances of mule vs. soldier and the not-so-comical antics of the mules themselves with their almost-human perversity and stubborrness.
There was a tale of a train(?) of pack mules, fully loaded, who had got away from their keepers on a training exercise and had been rounded-up, still loaded, in three States. Is that true?
We also heard that there had been a disastrous landing at some beach-head in the ETO but have never had that confirmed.
Some idiot officer in the hospital area had the grounds covered with manure from the barns, in hopes of grass on that hardpacked ground. Fortunately, one of Carson’s famous 70mph winds carried it all away! |

I’m doing research for a friend. Were there other designs of the kicking mule insignia for the 602nd? He has a Gemsco made pin showing the kicking mule but it is kicking to the upper right hand side and there appears to be something being projected into the air just above it’s rear hooves!(possibly a artillery shell) but I’m not sure. Any information would be most helpfull.
Thank you very much,
Keith |

My grandfather is Delford Von Eschen from Ortonville, MN. He passed this last week. I have 3 pitures of him from Camp Hale, CO and would like to see if anyone has more.
He served from 1942-1945 and passed away on August 23rd, 2009 at the age of 88; survived by his wife, my grandmother.
