I think we have come across each other before. If you are who I think you are you didn’t realise that there were Vousdens in Ireland before I told you! You’ve got a lot further than I have but then I’ve been busy adding thousands to the family tree all over the world.

I’m delighted to see that you have come across Jane Coffey 1863 and Peter Vousden her son, 1890. This Peter is my husband’s grandfather and Jane his great grandmother. I hope that I can fill a couple of gaps but it will be few I’m afraid.

Jennie

Helping an elderly relative with her family tree. Her grandmother was Annie Cecilie Vousden, daughter of Valentine and Mary Vousden. In 1891 Annie married in Townsville Queensland, Australia to Donald Shaw. Her birth is registered in England Mar qtr 1862, Dis; Brentford as Cecily Ann Vousden. Note that Annie’s birth is not included in the page detailing life of Valentine Vousden.

Hi, my maiden name was Vousden. My father’s name was Dennis Vousden, born in Horsmonden 1926, died in September 2005. His parents’ names were William and Ellen Vousden. All of the family lived in Horsmonden, Kent. I now reside in Calgary, Alberta, Canada but would be interested to hear from other Vousdens who believe they may have a link to my ’branch’ of the Vousden family.

Trying to find some information on my grandfather, William Noel Vousden. Details on him are very sketchy. My mother, now 88, daughter of Wm Noel Vousden) tells me that her parents never spoke about their backgrounds, so it really is a bit of a family mystery. She tells me that he was originally from Kent, probably Seven Oaks area. Date of birth on his gravestone is shown as 30.12.1888, although there is an entry in the Birth Register which shows a William Vousden born 1890 at Tunbridge. Date of death was 23.7.1962. He married my grandmother, May Hyatt, from Hereford but can’t find anything in the Marriages Register either. Any help would be appreciated.

Martin, You did not leave an e-mail address or any other means for people to send you information. Please contact me via the Contact Page on the Vousden web site and I will try to help. Nigel Brown

Thank you Nigel,
Now I know how Archimedes felt, absolutely ecstatic, many thanks for your sterling work, it is very rewarding to make a discovery such as this, it makes up for all the emails sent and not replied to, stone walls etc.

Cheers Gavin Grant (NZ)

Hi Nigel, the picture you show of Agnes Minnie Vousden leads us to believe that my husbands grandfather was the brother of Agnes Vousden who is in the picture at the back wearing a bowler hat. He was a publican in Holloway Road at the Holloway Hotel for a time and various pubs after that. My husband remembers Aunt Aggie as he used to call her. Regards
