| I grew up on the family farm and went to the Grade School at Runnymede, KS. I have become facinated with our heritage, and the history that goes along with it. |

I found your website from a Google search and very much appreciated your postings on Osage County. My grandmother and her sisters grew up in Avant after relocating "out west" from near Lebanon, Missouri and I’ve always been fascinated with the history of Osage County, it’s people and its rich history. I live in Tulsa but planning a drive through the area later this week and found your articles inspiring. Thanks for sharing them. Sincerely, ~gmm

I was born in Seiling in 1932, my great grandfather homesteaded in what is now Dewey County. Considerable controversy exists as to the correct name of my great grandfather. Is it Alanzo Bernier -- later Barney or Amable
Bernier -- later Barney.
The name appears in the Dewey County homestead record -- the third entry in the book -- but the handwriting is not that clear. The recorder says Alanzo/Amable "made is mark"
My grandfather was named Edward Clyde Barney (as was my father) and was married to Anna Spring (Keokuck, Iowa)
Both my parents were born in Seiling. Mothers family traced themselves through Milo Earnest Walker and Horace Durphey.
Any information or suggested contacts would greatly appreciated.

| Is there any info concerning John Robert Warwick and wife Signora Gwin that tells or even suggests why they left (West) Virginia for Coldwater, Kansas? They were there in Kansas prior to Robert "making the run" over to Oklahoma in September 1893. Was just wondering if their is any family info stating why they left West Virginia/Virginia for Kansas. |

Hi! I’ve been a reader of your site for many years - I love family and Oklahoma history and I have a lot of people from Northwest Oklahoma...Cherokee, Alva, Lambert, Carmen, Woodward, Mooreland, Quinlan and Cedardale (to name a few!) I wanted to let your readers know about my new site, www.okietourist.com. I’m going to different areas in the state and reviewing them, plus we have giveaways going on all the time. Right now it’s four free tickets to Frontier City in OKC! Hope you get a chance to come by and see it! |
