my granddad Archibald Currie D.C.M. British Calvery as a teen was an apprentice machinest in the Belfast ship yards. Many years ago he told me about operating a huge metal lathe turning a propeller shaft that was so long when he took lunch break he would leave the lathe running and take a run and jump over it as it took too long to walk around it!He worked on this shaft ,1 of 3 for over 1 year . He said it was the biggest wast of time he ever spent.I said why? He said the ship was the Titanic as iwas only 10 years old at the time(i959) i had never heard of the titanic!

| Thank you very much for taking the time to put this website together. I have to do an assignment on Frederick Fleet, and it has already proven to be useful. Keep up the great work. |

A very comprehensive site.Thank you for taking the time to put it all together.I especially liked the "radio" section. If those early operators could see the way we do things now they wouldn’t believe it.What? Morse code obsolete, impossible!!
Thanks again. |

| Ive been interested in The Titanic all my life after hearing the stories from my family as members were connected to the making of the Anchor and chain for the Ship. |
