hi richard!i cannot believe the mess the wlt are making of bryher.well the whole of the land that they supposedly manage around my homeland.it,s disgraceful!as well for the piles of signs and electric fenceposts everywhere, well i work up in the north of england on the landscape services for a local council and they call the likes of the piles "flytipping"and they prosecute the people that litter! keep the good work up to try and sort this horrible image of the islands out!

all the best paul guy

Well the evidence doesn’t stack up, this heathland management has only been going a couple of years, prior to that the islands had managed without interference from anyone other than us islanders and had been celebrated for its beauty and diversity of flora and fauna for many years so why change it, the WLT seems to be patting itsself on the back for something that was already here before they arrived with all their nasty fencing.

Whilst Beccy has a point - there is the problem of visitors not visiting the various islands and so depriving the local islanders of income through the summer period. For those able to afford to stay at the Hell Bay Hotel - what must they think with all these restrictions and electric fencing everywhere - it must be off-putting.

I was shocked to see the awful wire and ugly signs, how they have ruined the loveliness of the island. Why all of a sudden have the WLT decided that the inhabitants are incapable of looking after the place? The island we all knew and loved was as it was because of the sympathetic care you have taken of it for so long. I could weep!

If you could just appreciate what these grazing cows are doing for your local environment I don’t think you would mind. The Trust has introduced this grazing programme as the most sustainable way to preserve the wonderful heather headlands Bryher and the whole of Scilly has. Without them a huge amount of manual work would have to be done, involving tractors and brush cutters in order to stop other plants taking over, this would cause a lot more noise and disturbance compared to a few cows. I appreciate that some of your favourite stretches of land may be taken away from you, but it is temporary, the cattle are moved around regularly and graze new areas. I also understand that cow pat isn’t pleasant to see or walk around, but is natural and will quickly decompose and disappear. The wildlife trust works hard to protect the beautiful Isles of Scilly the best was possible, and faces a lot of objections which I don’t think is fair, I hope you can listen to this view point and appreciate the other side of the story.

Well done Richard for getting this site up and running again, it’s shocking how much of Bryher is being allowed for grazing.
