My apologies as I just realized that I neglected to included my full name in post #15 and that I live across the pond.

So now the WLT is attacking Gwealhill!!! Outragous and completely uncalled for!!!!! I am so very sorry to learn of this most disturbing and crushing news.

To the WLT....have you no common sense or bit of shame??? There is so much good you could be doing instead of destruction and/or harm. My family tended the land of Scilly for centuries and never once destroyed it nor did they ever have to jeopardize anyone with electric fencing. Please seek alternatives.

Great site - love the photos and the insight into local goings-on!
I visited Scilly Isles years ago and had a fabulous time. Planning to return in 2012 with some birding chums and just ’doing some research’! (Any recommendations of places to stay welcome - there are four of us.)

Hi Richard. So when we visit Bryher are we trespassing on the footpaths ? We assume that as Duchy tenants you have a right of way ! Seriously - we are sorry that you are still experiencing these problems and hope that at least something positive will come out of today’s Radio Scilly discussion. We will be listening in & rooting for you !!

The footpaths belong to the Duchy of cornwall.

Regrettably, as the WLT never cease to remind us, these are not public footpaths.

I have not visited Bryher for 2 years during my holiday on Scilly and was hoping to do so this summer. My husband is disabled and,if the tides are low and the boats land at Rushy Bay,he is unable to make the trip. Bryher has always been one of our favourite places and, tides permiting, we were hoping to visit this summer. I have to say that the pictures of the damage caused by the WLT does make me think twice.I hope that a solution can be found and everyone can work together for the good of the islands.

hi richard!i cannot believe the mess the wlt are making of bryher.well the whole of the land that they supposedly manage around my homeland.it,s disgraceful!as well for the piles of signs and electric fenceposts everywhere, well i work up in the north of england on the landscape services for a local council and they call the likes of the piles "flytipping"and they prosecute the people that litter! keep the good work up to try and sort this horrible image of the islands out!

all the best paul guy

Well the evidence doesn’t stack up, this heathland management has only been going a couple of years, prior to that the islands had managed without interference from anyone other than us islanders and had been celebrated for its beauty and diversity of flora and fauna for many years so why change it, the WLT seems to be patting itsself on the back for something that was already here before they arrived with all their nasty fencing.
