Great site with insight to the 1st Cav. My Uncle Charles M. Hooker was one of the originals in the deployment in 65 from Benning. My dad James Hooker Sr self deployed from Benning in 65 flying Caribous. They were both in Vietnam same time. You’ve got several photos of my Uncle Charlie on your site. I spent some time with 82d, 8th ID,6th Cav, C Co 227th 1st Cav, 56th Avn, 1st Bn 5th Avn 5th ID, and 502d Avn 2d Armd Div. I started out jumping from perfectly good airplanes and figured that it would be better to fly. Spent my last 12 years as a Huey Driver. Great site!!!

Thanks a million for sharing your history with Echo Btry, 82rd Arty (AVN). I served with Echo Btry, 82nd Arty from Jul 69 to Jul 70. I was a SSG 67N4H and served on the aircraft line. Did some flying also. Lots of photos and memories. Seems that we have been forgotten in the Cav Magazine. Not much there. Guess I will dig up some stuff and send it. You have a great site and thanks for sharing. Bill T, MSG Retired

Great site, Ed!

Thank you to all who served faithfully in "The First Shift". Even though I was only seven years old back then, I remember a few of the names and faces in the pictures. Would love to hear from anyone with memories about my father. He was very proud of what you accomplished together. He passed away in 1993.
