Great Site - Spent many happy hours in the area both on foot and in the various watering holes. I had a great guide to the area my mothers cousin the late George Ardley of Merlewood Avenue who was a great local character. My great great grandfather carved the eagle in St Chads. I will always be drawn over the hills from Huddersfield to check out my family history. You cant beat the area, the moorland is fantastic.

I had the great Pleasure To be Visiting Mossley when they Had their Whit Friday walk. I made point to join the families on side line.As My Just dearly departed sister in law would tell me all about this event every year. So even though my journey from australia was a sad occasion it turned into a enjoyable memorable occasion. keep up the old traditons i am sure the young one will thank you for it.

I was looking into my Bradbury family history and found out my great great Grandfather Ratcliffe Bradbury came from Saddleworth, Yorkshire and also his Father Ratcliffe Bradbury. Are there any Bradbury’s still in Saddleworth? Thanks

Thankyou very much for allowing me to view the area once again after having left the area 66yrs ago... and especially in view of the fact that now, at 83yrs of age, I this weekend am bringing my two sons and my grandson to show them their roots.
