Hello.. I am curious about the Civil War involvement in Creston.
I have information there was possibly an encampment of CSA soldiers at one time in the park at McKinley lake. I would like to contact someone for adding information I have. The phones seem to always just ring and ring at the historical office at the park. TKS..

Great work! Thank you. I’m looking for an experienced researcher to find an ancestor in Union Co, or surrounding areas.

He is James Stevenson b; 1845, d; abt 1868, m; 13 Apr 1865 to Charlotte Barbee Cherry; dau- Lillie Ellen Stevenson b; 19 Jan 1866 (who married Nathan John Fredrick McClellan)

He was involved in the newspaper in Afton and/or Creston with L. Raguet. Capt. J. F. Bishop was his wife’s second husband.

Related families through his wife’s sisters are Dr. Leroy S. Groves (Mary Esta Cherry), J. W. Johnston (Alcinda Jane Cherry), John Nelson Gadd (Cyrena L. Cherry)

He apparently took ill. I’m looking for his family (possibly from PA), and where, when and how did he die.

Can you recommend someone for research?

Thank you, BR

I am interested in the Creston Watershed area development for Mckinley Park/Hurley Creek watershed and 900 storm sewers that drain into it in Creston. Anybody that can provide me some information can also reach me @

Thank you for responding so quickly to my message. You suggested that I contact researchers in Jefferson Co. I have already done that and have the cemetery records. If my family had lived longer in Union Co., I’m sure I would have found more information on your wonderful site.

Thank you for your wonderful site! I often come here to see if there are any new items about my family. I have learned much over the years.

Congratulations on a excellent site, I come from New Cumnock, Ayrshire, Scotland, county town is Ayr and the River Afton flows through New Cumnock, and was imortalised in song by Scottish poet Robert Burns,

Must have been someone from this area out there early days, but who?
All the best.

According to my research, my great grandparents were married in Creston ia in 1880, and moved to nebraska in 1883 or there abouts. Their names were, John Bauld and Zoura Reynolds. They had 3 children before they left the county on the trip to Ne.
Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
