Hello I stumbled across this website and think it has great potential. I do Irish Family History talks in the North East of England and find that most people doing research on their Irish ancestors give up as they are unwilling to pay high prices. The Irish government may find their policy of Genealogical tourism in the long run will backfire on them. The Irish government seem unaware of thre fact that people living in England are unwilling to travel to Ireland as most do mot have a clue where their ancestors came from in Ireland. Or at best a story handed down the generations. Free access to some of the importaint records may prove beneficial.I think the Irish governments approach is driven by professional Genealogists, who seem to be preserving their lucturative living. Genealogy is the hobby of many ordinary people and I cannot see why they are denied access to records on-line so to preserve one or two peoples lucturative business.
You are doing a good job on here keep it up and provide the ordinary person with as many free links to records as possibile.

Hi Eddie, I just wanted to take the time to thank you for putting together such a wonderful site! I’m particularly happy to have seen the pages you devoted to the Newtownards Memorial. My great uncle, George Chambers, served with the Royal Irish Rifles and died aged just 18. I’ve never been able to find much about him, nor my grandfather’s other brothers and sisters. To find George mentioned in the Memorial Pamphlet made him a lot more real to me. Finding Henry’s name in the list of ’served and survived’ was wonderful, also.
I’m just wondering if you could tell me how/where you accessed images for the pamphlet images you’ve used. I would love to get a copy of it somehow but can’t find it online except at your site and I’m afraid they’re a tad too tiny to read.
Oh, and I just thought I’d mention, I have about 40 members in my family tree named Connolly - all branching off from my father’s cousin... I wonder if there should be an ’Eddie’ on that list as well? ;)
Anyway, regardless of whether you have a moment to answer my query or not, please know that I’m extremely greatful for the information you’ve made available here. Your time and efforts are truly appreciate.

Just found your site and already picked up some information in the newspaper notices. Thanks.
Looking for information on Thomas Dunwoody, my wife’s great-grandfather, who died 17 December 1876, we understand of typhoid. He was a grocer in Beersbridge Road. His daughter, my wife’s grandmother, was born a few months after his death.
