On behalf of the Chairman and members of Post 20 IUNVA we would like to thank all those who attended our Memorial Day Service yesterday the 5th Sepember in Mullingar Those who travelled from Posts in Galway, Athlone, The three Posts in Co Wexford,The Curragh, Portlaoise, Carlow and Dublin. A very dignified service was held and we rembembered in particular those who fell at Niamba in Congo in 1960. We also had in attendance the two survivors from Niemba Joe Fitzpatrick and Tom Kenny.
A big thank you to all for without your presence the ceremony would not have been possible.

I would like to extend thanks on behalf of myself and my family for a great day at Baldonnel. My Father C/S Felix Grant died in The Congo in 1960 and it was on his behalf that we we were grateful to have been invited to attend.
I myself served in Cyprus and The Sinai and met many old comrades who had served with my Father and myself.
Thank you to all the officers ncos and other ranks at Baldonnel and all who helped set up a very impressive day.

On Sunday 5th September Post 20 Mullingar will hold their Annual Commeration Day at Post 20 Memorial Peace Garden in Ballyglass Cemetary Mullingar at 2.30pm. During this ceremony a special tribute will be paid to those who fell at the Niamba Ambush as this year is the 50th Anniversary of that tragic event. If you are a UN Veteran or indeed served in the Congo or on any UN mission your attendance would be greatly appreciated on the day, or if you are a relative or served with those who died please accept this invite to attend the ceremony.
