As a decendant of Grahams from Kilchoman, I rather enjoyed reading your pages and photographs. I can readily empathise with your feelings. I had similar experiences albeit not on Islay during long summer holidays as a boy. Slainte Mhath!

Still have a brother Gilbert in Islay, have not been home for a long time, maybe next year. I now live in the USA. Longing to get back |

| Lovely to find your site bringing back so many memories. I used to play on the horseshoe bay with the McLellans from Campbell Place. My Mother is Elizabeth (Bessie) MacNeill (aged 96 years) from 13 King Street, Portnahaven and my maiden name was MacDonald. I began my school life in Portnahaven and managed to get lost on my first day on the way home to granny’s house in King Street!!! That schooling was short lived as I returned to my permanent home in Oban. I now live in New Zealand (seven years) but will always be proud of my heritage - Islay, Oban and Mull. |

Enjoyed the website.
My father was Peter Currie (brother of Iain, Dougie and Albert) of 3 Church Street, Portnahaven. I want to create family tree of the Portnahaven Curries so any info would be very welcome.
Keep up the good work.

Hi,
Love your web site, I was born in Portnahaven 3,Campbell place. Raised in Fort William but spent all my summer holidays there. My mother Barbara McLellan was raised at 6 Shore Street. Also my cousin lived there for a while before she passed. Still have a brother on the Island, Gilbert. I hope to take my family back there one day and let my grandkids play on the shore in Portnahaven. I now live in the States. When you are there it is like time stands still. Cant wait to return. |
